Social Media “Best in Show”: The Brands that Rocked Social in 2015: Part 2

The Brands that Rocked Social in 2015: Part 2

By Abbey Theban, TVG Assistant Account Executive

Did you catch Part 1 of our totally awesome social media awards show blog? Now it’s time for Part 2! Check out the rest of our picks for the most inspiring/hilarious/innovative social media accounts. We’re giving you the best accounts to follow in 2016. See which brands made the cut!

1. Best Product Promotion

Boasting over 6 million followers on Instagram, Starbucks (@starbucks) can basically do no wrong. On all social channels, Starbucks has a great mix of product and lifestyle promotion, selling both a feeling and a lifestyle for their deliciously overpriced coffee. Starbucks’s social media accounts are filled with beautifully photographed, artsy Starbucks drinks with a scenic backdrop. Starbucks’s Instagram and Twitter will make you want to drive to your nearest Starbucks and purchase the most expensive drink on the menu. (I may or may not know from personal experience).

2. Best Photos

There’s something beautiful about being able to share your photos with the world. Go Pro (@GoPro) lets their fans do exactly that. All of these jaw-dropping photos come from Go Pro users themselves. Looking through Go Pro’s Instagram account would make any normal person feel intense wanderlust. And the best part? They let their fan photos do all the talking.

3. Best Engagement

And the winner is… Taco Bell (@tacobell)! If you’re not currently following Taco Bell, you’re doing something wrong. Not only do they have the zingiest one-liners, but they are also extremely clever when it comes to responding to their fans, other brands and even celebrities. Taco Bell is the very essence of your “cool friend.” So bravo, Taco Bell, for making us laugh and feeding us lunch for a dollar.

4. Best Petition for Change

Social media is fun, but it also has the ability to create change within a culture. That’s why I’m awarding Always’ #LikeAGirl campaign for its powerful message. The first Like a Girl ad gained popularity after it aired during the 2014 Super Bowl. It challenged the world to change the meaning of the phrase “like a girl” from an insult to a compliment. The original video has now received more than 60 million views and started a global conversation about girls’ confidence, especially during puberty.

5. Best Multimedia Content

Of course, I’m saving the best for last. The brand that has the best photos, gifs, videos and Vines goes to Dunkin’ Donuts (@DunkinDonuts)! If a social media account can make you hungry and thirsty by staring at a screen, you know they’re doing something right. Cutesy, quirky videos of balloons and coffee popping out of pumpkins will make you fall in love with Dunkin Donuts. They even have geofilters on Snapchat you can use when you’re near a Dunkin’ Donuts. I’m telling you, these people are genius.
